  1. Incognito, with the ever-watchful eagle.

  2. I love the grainy texture of the picture especially in his face. It reflects the gritty, grimy feeling I always have the rare times I ride the NYC subway these days.

  3. I love the "view" out the window. It look like this guy might be hurtling through outer space!

  4. I find it odd that Travis chose to close off further discussion on the previous thread.A couple of people on that thread were telling me that I should'nt ask Travis to take down that image because if he did that would be censorship. Yet Travis has no problem shutting down discussion on that thread. TRAVIS HAS CLOSED THE THREAD. What happened Travis did you get a little uncomfortable with the political views being expressed? You claim to have ascertained that everyone's made their point,. How do you know this? YOU ARE NOW CENSORING FREE SPEECH. Oh, but hey, you just take some nice little subway photos of some fleeting moments and bare no responsibility for them, is that it? THAT"S WEAK.

  5. Sid, buddy, it's a freakin' picture. Get off your high horse. There were no other racist overtones besides the ones you created.

  6. Sid, if your email had not been returned you would know why the thread was closed. I know this hard to believe but I was getting complaints about your comments and felt the converstation was getting further and further from actually discussing the content of this site or accomplishing anything but angering people. If you would like to discuss this further I would appreciate it if you contact me directly. I do not appreciate your tone. Thank you very much, Travis

Get off your wannabe high horse by unequivocally stating there are no racial and political overtones to the previous picture. I see it very differently as noted on the thread.... You know it was a civil conversation for the most part.If it's only a picture as you state, then why did Travis close the thread? That's censorship. What is he afraid of ?Got an answer Travis?

  8. Travis

Oh, I see you were getting complaints from the ignorant hoi polloi. God forbid they should open their eyes for one minute and peer at something a little uncomfortable.Oh, what a nice little shot of a decently dressed black man begging on the subway.....Yeah, that has no further implications whatsoever. What willful naivety and blindness, but that's why this country is in the mess it's in. All my comments were on topic, that topic being that photo and all it entails, all relevant to this site.

  9. Rasheed (previous thread)

As long as you're not predominantly talking about Jews, I basically agree with your assessment, though hopefully WW3 is a little further off. haha!

  10. Sid, I think Rasheed is talking about the Bush Crime Family.

    Terrific shot Travis.

  11. Jeesh.
    anon.

  12. anon,
yeah, that says a lot, a whole lot of nothing

  13. I think this shot is also startlingly racist because it implies that only white men served in the armed forces - notice how no black veterans are depicted??? This is just the sort of revisionist history this blog goes out of its way to perpetuate time and time again. Also I can't help noticing that the icon depicted on the 'do not lean on the door' sign is WHITE, suggesting that the photographer believes (or at least unconsciously condones) the idea that the other (non-white) races should not be allowed to ride the subway. Or is he saying that non-whites SHOULD lean on the doors (a dangerous, potentially fatal practice)? More troubling still: notice how the color of the font used throughout the site is, once again, white. This is clearly meant to perpetuate stereotypes about the supposed illiteracy of other races.

In short, I find the white supremacist agenda being promoted by this site (both in its subject matter and format) to be deeply, deeply disturbing. Then again it should be taken into account that I am a colossal moron.

  14. sid's twin,

where do you get the idea this guy is a veteran in the armed forces? That is very unclear to me....I could read that do not lean on door sign to have the exact opposite meaning. Everyone except white people should'nt lean on the door...ergo white people should lean on it. It's like the ghostbusters sign meant to signify eliminating ghosts, this signifies eliminating white people. By your logic regarding the color of the sight's font, all posters are black, given that everyone's name is in black.

I never claimed this sight had any agenda, I merely pointed out the ramifications of that photo that rang true to me.

Now this is a very cool , logical answer to the above poster's statement, I hope you post it Travis. Fair is fair.

  15. Sid's twin

as long as my posts are going through unfiltered, let me say regarding your last statement, I'll take your word for it.

  16. I join my twin Sid in commending the FASCIST site administrator for momentarily easing up on his attempts to CENSOR us, thus denying one of our inalienable rights: FREEDOM OF SPEECH. Apparently our ideas -- or to use the more eloquent words of my twin brother, our attempts to point out the ramifications of certain images that ring true to us -- are so POWERFUL and THREATENING to the AUTOCRATIC DICTATOR who runs the site he finds it necessary to SILENCE our voices us by imposing an electronic restraining order against us! This brutal suppression of outsider, minority voices again illustrates the totalitarian, white supremacist politics of this blog which Sid and I began to expose earlier--only to find ourselves figuratively gagged, beaten and imprisoned.

Perhaps the blogger is afraid we will point out other hidden messages lurking in his supposedly "candid" (but quite likely staged) photographs? We could point out several photos (those posted in October 2005, in particular) which promote not only racism, but also subliminally advance the causes of anti-Semitism, sexism, misogyny, homophobia, heterophobia, ageism, religious intolerance, and pedophilia. (If anyone does not find these qualities in the photos it means that you secretly support these causes without realizing it.) In any event my twin Sid and I feel that it is our duty as morons to request that in the future more objective photos will be posted, Travis. Otherwise we will have to respectfully ask you to pull them from the sight.

  17. I think that perhaps it's time to grow up and move on. Personally, I love this site for the images. Some are better than others, I'm not particularly moved by this one, but I really enjoy the images generally and the comments. At the moment, you are merely spoiling my enjoyment. Your pride will not allow you to back down and that seems a shame. Wars have been fought, atrocities committed and children mutilated because men and women could not make their own point and then leave it.

can I ask that we be allowed to get back to the simple pleasure of enjoying a unique slice of life and leave behind the rubish, because that's waht you are making this site.
