F Train ~ Smith & 9th Street ~ 8:55am

It's time for Photobloggies 2006. These are the awards given out to Photoblogers for their work in the past year. I don't usually do much self-promotion but in this instance I would appreciate it if you took the time to consider voting for my site in one (or more) of the categories. Photojournalism, Street Photography or Portrait might be categories the work could fall under. Thank-you for your time.

Man is it a pleasure processing an image that is not lit by the lights underground. I've not been very happy with some of my recent results. Sometimes I find myself ridding the train and really looking at the lights and colors and trying to remember if I'm anywhere near close. The problem is our mind makes so many adjustments when looking at a scene, where as a camera has to commit to one effect.

  1. That's one pissed-off look!

  2. wow, this is perfect.

  3. well, we've lost the atmosphere given by the typical light and colors down in the underground but we have the pissed of mood of a darkness creature exposed to the sun light!
An opinion: what about cutting off the right side of this image from the nose of the woman to the border, leaving just from her eye to the left border?

  5. I voted for you Travis!! Hope you'll come through!!

  6. I like so mucch about this photo -- the dripping graffiti and the color of it, the concentrated look on the woman's face as she is reading, the lighting (hair highlights, her ear lobe) that is happening behind the graffiti. The stripes on her collar echo the drips running down on the right side. The book is very white, yet doesn't demand any attention. Great composition and great photo! I wouldn't crop it at all.
