Chambers Street ~ 9:05am

Talk about not feeling the love. It has been pointed out that just upstairs is a very, very shinny station for the East side trains. Here's an image from that platform. I'm standing on the South Brooklyn & Queens platform.

  1. Wow. I first thought it was one of those dead stations that exist in some metro systems in several cities. Interesting set of photos, these last ones.

  2. All that comes to mind is the "rise and fall of the Roman Empire", or perhaps the last days of Pompeii. This image is chllingly decayed, but the designs on both sides of the sign hint at better times. I wonder if a photo exists of this spot in it's heyday.

This again, is why it's so important that you create a photographic record of the spaces and the faces.

  3. Wow. I had no idea that places like this still exists in NYC. Amazing pictures.

  4. I like this - the decay, wear&tear comes out really well.

  5. Great shot... I seriously think they're waiting for the JMZ to fall down so they can get rid of this station. This is still one of my favourite stations. (Others being Broad Channel, Morgan Avenue, Grand Central on the 7 and 96th Street on the 123.)

  6. i love the fact that you've been focusing on the chambers st station lately. i'm a displaced new yorker living in ohio, and i'm living my daily JMZ commute vicariously through these pictures. what i miss the most is the view fromthe train going over the wmsburg bridge... thanks!

  7. So interesting, your set of photos here. Something I don't get to see where I live.

  8. This is really creepy. It would be a great set for a horror movie.Great job with the lighting.

  9. One of the nicer spots in NY I see.

  10. This is a working platform?! Crazy!
