Q Train ~ Manhattan Bridge ~ 6:45pm

Ah what the heck, it's Valentines Day. Any ideas what they could possibly be reading? I don't have a clue. Yes I've got some snow shots but I'm not in the mood for more snow tonight. Maybe I'll put one of those up tomorrow.

  1. Travis, did the guy on the right stare a hole through your camera! Scary guy! Great shot though again!

  2. Awwww! - I wonder what they are looking at?

  3. A payslip? SHAME on me!

  4. Classic! I love the stark differences of the couple and the sitting guy.

  5. I'd like to think they're looking at a strip of pictures taken at a photo booth.

  6. Good morning from Texas...

Really kinda captures the essence of the day, no? Seems young love is either totally consumining and blocks out all else or you are like the guy in the corner...jilted, or even worse... so pissed you will never have a chance to be.

  7. Besides the sitting guy whose looking at you like you're crazy, there's also the woman on the other side hiding from the camera too, both I find interesting in contrast to the cute couple.

  8. Clearly they are looking at the winning numbers of their lottery ticket. No? Heh, love the comment about the guy's look... Funny how these are the kinds of looks I ususlly get when I take people shots. Then again, that pretty much looks like the look I give when I see someone taking an unsolicited shot of my too! ;)

  9. I'm remembering now that shortly after making this image the gent on the right pulled out a copy of Hamlet. Ah New York, you just never know what's in someone's bag. And the lady the left....fast asleep.

  10. A wonderful picture for Valentine's Day.

And I'm so glad you told the story about the guy on the right and the Hamlet.

It started my morning with a smile.

  11. It's the fortune taken from a HUGE fortune cookie (and, from their smiles, I'd say it's a good one.)

I know it isn't the case, but this is the only one of your photos that I think looks like the subjects posed for you. (But it's a lovely photo anyway.)

  12. I see excitement, pride and accomplishment in their faces. Perhaps it's her grades from some courses she's taking to better her life. Things are looking up for this couple. Wonderful emotions expressed here, and although one might at first think "posed", their expressions are not force at all - very spontaneous and fresh.

Smiling faces on the subway. Makes my day.

  13. I just love her big smile. For this time & moment, she is truly happy.
    Ain't love grand!!

  14. What a great capture, the contrasts in moods between the couple and the guy on the right are excellent. Glad you ddi not crop him out!

  15. Its the wrong shape, but it really should be a pregnancy scan photo. Love the way that your pictures make me see my fellow travellers on the London tube differently.

    Best wishes, Joan

  16. Great moment captured. No idea what they are reading. Like the "other" guy too.

  17. It's a great Valentine's photo!

  18. I agree with the person who said its a lottery ticket. But regardless of what they were looking at its a fantastic shot.

  19. Great shot, love the pink left. Valentines to the teeth!

  20. great shot!

  21. Odd, to think that some find it easy to accept misery and question pure joy as "contrived" .

  22. Beautiful shot. Really must have been a huge fortune cookie :)

  23. Grat picture of loving people.
I like the expression of excitement in this picture.

  24. This image immediately took me back to my late teens in the UK, our college exam results were printed out on slips of paper like this. Maybe that's the answer...? Great to have something to celebrate, a sunny moment below ground :-)
