M Train ~ Chambers Street ~ 8:50am

I find myself going out of my way to go through Chambers Street these days. Hope you don't get tired of it.

  1. Nice shot through all of the rust. Travis, you should go over to the 4,5,6 part of the station so that people can see how completely different that station looks considering that they are all one combined station.

  2. Not tired at all. I like this shot much better than the last one. In the other one, the "Chambers St" sign was a bit too prominent for my taste.

Here everything is more subtle. I like the frame within a frame with the train doors. I like the rust and tear of the outer frame, and how it encompasses a tender moment in the inner frame. I like how a white girl is giving solace to a black guy, when in the poster behind them there is a black couple. I like her red coat and his red boots and the yellow line just outside the train.

I guess you can say I really like this one. Please keep going back to Chambers.

  3. Great shot today! The framing is great, and the drabness of the station really draws my eye into the centre of attention. I think it's a great place to shoot from.. It would make a really interesting series to see a shot from 5 different trains in a row!

  4. I think this photo gives a great sense of scale to the train and the people within. Also makes the train seem like a place of comfort compared to the desolation of the station. Really love this one!

  5. I agree that this one is excellent. The couple framed within the decay and shiny metal is so interesting to look at. The couple in the poster are obviously in a happy state, and the couple on the train are projecting a much different mood.....downcast and comforting. I love photographs that tell a story, or even more interesting allow us to weave the story out of whole cloth.

Thanks for your continued commitment Travis.

  6. This one of your best of all time.

  7. WOW

  8. I'm in love with this image. Well done.

  9. Which is it... does Art imitate Life or visa versa? This one is one of my all time favourites as its such a mix of reality and pure graphic surreality. It's a painting and a photograph all rapped up in a poem. Thanks so much for birthing this image into our lives. Bravo Ruse!

  10. This is absolutely one of my favorites of yours. Well done.

  11. This is a fantastic shot.

  12. I'll join in with what has already been said: This one is one of your best. The frame within a frame, and then the poster makes another-- all magnifying a theme bumps this image up a level. No one has mentioned the guy's orange shoes--I like those too.

  13. Yes, this is truly great. You're taking your photography to a new level here.

  14. sleepy tenderness...
