F Train ~ Smith & 9th st. ~ 6:35pm

  1. regrettably i took the "q" today instead of the "f" because i had to deal with ridiculous shuttle buses, being stuck in tunnels with the lights out, transfers...uch. typical weekend transit. no biggie--i was only an hour late to where i was supposed to be. of course going home--that's when i decide to take the "f" (the carriage inn on 7th/8th is a great place to wring out ones frustrations) , which of course then decides to go express, when i was in no particular rush any longer. feh.

  2. Nice capture. Would like to see some better ones, though. :(

  3. in my opinion, this IS one of your better ones! can't explain why! well done...

  4. I, too, really like this one! You mkae the interior of the subway car look like a divey cafe or something. Of course, no coffee, because that is now illegal. I love these multi-windowed/multi-layered shot of yours.

  5. And another, panicked, comment: do we really have only six more weeks of this? Do you have some other delectable project planned or are you going to send us all iunto withdrawal come December?

  6. Wait....coffee is illegal?? That begs for an explanation.

I am drawn past the scene in the subway car, past the "F" train, and wondering who lives in those aeries - - the upper level sorta-penhouses beyond the tracks. Teeny-tiny kitchens and cozy spaces.

Is Travis' year up in six weeks? Surely he won't abandon the effort simply because he mentally signed on to do a year. It's become a daily habit - part of his life - how could he NOT take a photo everyday.

  7. You people are gonna kill me. Food for thought, I just purchased a 250gb drive. I'm gonna have to put something on it.

Erica, congrats on your story on the front page of the Park Slope Courier this week. http://www.parkslopecourier.com/site/tab7.cfm?newsid=15348172&BRD=2384&PAG=461&dept_id=552853&rfi=6

  8. Interesting perspective today.

I, like many others would be quite devestated if you would to stop posting... You have inspired me a lot. I love your work.

  9. I love this picture. It's cool how the F finds a way to stand out in the midst of the picture.

  10. I come here every day. I was born in Manhattan, live in Maine for the last 19 years. Although I visit once in a while, your pictures keep me connected to the deep roots of my childhood. They remind me of family and history and let me touch a part of the world that is NYC directly, not through the subterfuge of tourism propaganda.

Whatever you decide to do, I want to sincerely thank you for doing this site. You've easily got a book of photos now. In twenty years these photos are going to be over the top. Really. Bigtime.

    Thanks Travis.
