4th & Prospect Ave, Brooklyn ~ 6:50pm

When I first moved to this neighborhood and went to this station I was horrified. It's a long walk along a noisy expressway. It's a pretty dirty intersection (the kind that even New Yorkers don't jay walk at), the trains run late and the stations are not well maintained (cold in the winter and stiffiling in the summer). I swore to walk out of my way to avoid the experience. Well it's amazing what time and the purchase of an ipod will do for one's attitude. You can continue to walk with your head down and ignore your surroundings or you can look for the beauty in your life. Well maybe not beauty. But at least open your mind to your surroundings. What do you look at every day that you no longer see? We race home passing all sorts of details. People, views, opportunities.

In the morning this station is a steady stream of every nationality one can hope to see. It's at the corner of Sunset Park and Park Slope communities. It's just one of the crossroads in the universe sitting under an expressway.

  1. Amazing shot. Love the usage of lighting. The stop light was a lucky catch. Keep up the great work.

  2. Great pic. The lighting in this a great for this shot.

  3. This is a good piece of work.
    It makes a person think.

  4. Before I even read your description I was thinking this did not make going down to the train very inviting this time fof night. And I guess you confirmed it.

  5. I really like the repeating patterns/shapes of light.

  6. What a lonely looking picture, which captures exactly how I feel whenever I'm there (blessedly never at that hour): Lonely. By the way, did you ever get that link I sent you?

  7. This is my stop. Love it. Great to see such talented people in the neigborhood.

  8. I spent a year living at this stop. Probably my lonliest in NYC, and this photo expresses it perfectly.

  9. I oh-so love this one, Travis.
