Pacific Street Station ~ 6:40pm

I wasn't on the train today. See below for details. It's good to see other the half life sometimes. Needless to say I won't be showing my face around any car clubs anytime soon.

"This morning, Kristen LaSasso, Professional Cyclist with TEAm Lipton, won Transportation Alternatives’ Bike Month NYC 2005 4th Annual Commuter Race by making it from Junior’s Restaurant on Flatbush and DeKalb Avenues in Brooklyn to Columbus Circle in Manhattan in 27 minutes, despite the rain. LasSasso beat subway rider Michael Hernandez, Field Organizer for NYPRIG’s Straphangers’ Campaign by 3 minutes and motorist Travis Ruse, New York City transit photographer and Photography Editor for Inc. Magazine by a full 15 minutes. Danielle Filsinger, burgeoning “gridlock dodger” from the Gridlock Sam Team of the Daily News column, accompanied Travis."

  1. The lighting is absolutely amazing, and both characters depicted perfectly. Well done.

  2. P.S. This station is so clean that it reminds me of Toronto. P.S.S. As a perpetual transit rider by choice, I empathize with the nature of the event, and yet yearn for the days when I can commute by motorized vehicle. It must have been exciting to see the world from above ground and with music from speakers!

  3. The dark suit and the light
    nice photo

  4. "Man, I was supposed to be the next Elvis. Now this young punk has stolen the stage."

  5. Shades in the subway, heavy bag, stooped shoulders, tie gone awry, lapel pins and "the Donald" do. And the other guy - the newest John Cougar Mellencamp. You have a great eye for juxtaposition., and capturing a moment.

  6. Funny contrast between those people:)

  7. the lighting just made the subject more intersting! loved the shot!

  8. Sorry about your loss :)

This is a fantastic image, beautiful pose of dejection.

  9. Incredibly emotive shot. Great lighting and perfect composition. Really like this shot.
