Downtown 4 Train ~ 6:40pm

Little gifts. He neatly tucked a small folded note on the back side of the package and then tucked it nervously in his pocket.

  1. wonderful
    great moment
I like the subject, the feeling and the play of the colors

  2. Reminds me of "The Matrix"

  3. A-w-e-s-o-m-e!

Was he aware of you taking the photo? Looks like he graciously let you take it, but I could be wrong.

    Engagement ring?

  4. He did not know I made this photo. He was so engaged in folding the note into the ribbon. He was busy spinning it around and around, trying to get it just right. I shot a half dozen images before he was happy with it. The lady on the left knew what I was doing though and enjoyed the show. Sometimees I feel like I'm entertainment for the other passengers.

  5. I need to know your subway itinerary so that maybe I can be in a shot or two. Hehe j/k. Nice capture. Was the man young or old?

  6. It is so amazing how this photo is waking up our i-m-a-g-i-n-ation...

I have started my photoblog this year (01/Abr) its not working yet but you can see same photos.

  8. I would never have thought to cut hsi head off like this, but it works wonderfully. Ah...so much to learn.

  9. It is a mysterious shot. Would it be an engagement ring in the package, as he's already wearing a wedding ring, or something like that, on his wedding ring finger? Did you get a shot of the man's face in any of the other photos? For some reason I imagine he's got a very gaunt face, with a prominent nose, and a big black hat on!

  10. A great moment.

I instantly got a mental picture of this guy with the small box, you opposite with a big expensive camera and some slimey looking guy off to the side thinking to himself "it's my lucky lucky day".

  11. I could have posted nothing but these little details all week. I think I'm always photographing these small moments but for some reason this week they seem to have really come into focus. Sometimes I think I'd like to have another page of seconds. That sounds like trouble though. I end up having a handfull of images I want to post on the days I don't commute (weekend), but by the time I get around to posting some of them I'm already on to something else. It's a strange sort of editing process. I think todays sort of image is the most fun to look at. There are very few clues to his story but with what he's showing us we could write a book.

  12. I love this, it's so touching but mysterious at the same time.

  13. it's so interesting to hear your description of his actions, because even without it, you managed to capture the tension in his hands and his posture and reveal his fixation on the box. ;) looks about the size of a key...new home, new car? love the mystery feel of the black coat, like a character from a film. very nice!
